Injection Molding Process Engineer – South Haven, MI

We have an immediate opening for an experienced and self-motivated Injection Molding Process Engineer in our South Haven location.  The Injection Molding Process Engineer is responsible for the daily improvement and development of proven processes in injection molding. The preferred candidate should have the desire to work in a face paces environment with a hands-on approach to problem solving. Interested candidates should possess a passion to produce quality products with safety and efficiency.  

Responsibilities:

  • Establishing, controlling, and improving new and existing injection molding processes.
  • Assist production with process control and troubleshooting.
  • Establish effective working relationships with multiple departments to maximize project management success.
  • Participate in and lead cross functional teams for the advancement of projects.
  • Provide daily technical support and problem solving for production and facility problems.
  • Train production personnel on new and revised processes.
  • Experience in tooling and a strong understanding of materials and their properties-The ability to work closely with the tooling design to influence the design for single digit cycle times
  • Work to develop and manage tooling modifications to positively impact machine utilization, efficiency, and quality               
  • Ability and willingness to work up to 80% of time on the floor to help determine and correct issues, improve processes, and create or maintain successful programs
  • Ability to process molding tools using theoretical data, with the ability to influence processing parameters to process for optimum cycle times

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Passion for working with process set-up, troubleshooting and machine repair
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal & independent thinker
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in the plastics industry
  • Thin wall, high speed injection molding experience (Preferred, not required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/plastic engineering (Preferred, not required)
  • Extensive knowledge of the molding process, molding equipment, molding materials, and mold tooling
  • Project management expertise in process improvement and innovation principles
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment screening and authorized to work in the United States
